Discriminations against women in oil industry will be removed and there will be no difference between the two genders for working or studying in oil-related fields, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said.

Fortunately women in today’s Iranian society to an extent know their rights and try to in addition to social demands, to pursue their professional objectives too. The Iranian lady is a woman who as well as playing the sensitive role in her family towards her husband and children, she also plays her effective role in society.

Shahindokht Molaverdi said: “the thing that’s happened with regards to women in the 11th administration cannot be ignored in any way. For example in the Oil Ministry, with the support of Minister Zanganeh and his advisor on women and family affairs, Ms. Tondgooyan a movement was launched so that women in this ministry become free of cliché practices and important steps were taken towards the identification and elimination of gender discriminations and challenges in front of women in the work environments.”

According to IRNA news agency, during the introduction ceremony of Marzieh Shahedayee as the deputy of Oil Minister and Reza Nowrooz-zadeh as the deputy Oil Minister in Petrochemical Affairs, Bijan Zanganeh said, “For the first time a woman is appointed as the deputy Oil Minister.” The Minister furthermore hoped that the new female deputy of the ministry will be a great help for him and burden many troubles of the ministry.

He referred to the strengthening of women’s status and said, “From now in recruitments, more than 40 or 50 percent will be considered for women.” The Oil Minister explained, “the unfair discriminations against women that existed in the oil industry, will be put away and from now on in recruitments and universities there will be no differences between men and women.”

Today with the presence of women in executive organizations of the country and the appointment of important managerial posts, we witness a change in the attitude towards accepting the competence of women. Of course there is a long way till the full achievement of women to their real status, and we hope that all these departments to make note of this issue, which is stressed by the President.
