According to ISNA, professor Francis Boyle who has a PhD from Harvard University and is a serious critic of the Israeli government and a well know anti-US warmongering policies, particularly with regards to the war on terror, He also believes: "The assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists is a blatant example of American and |Israeli state sponsored terrorism," and continued on, "and in view of the reached nuclear agreement, the opportunity for sending the message 'Iran, victim of terrorism' to the world public opinion has come about."
What comes below is a telephone interview of professor Boyle by our reporter, on the subject of terrorism which was conducted on the eve of the 2nd 17,000 Martyrs of Terrorism International Congress.
Reporter: As you are aware the United States government claims it is at war against terror. Nevertheless, terror groups are freely active in the country. What is the reason for this contradiction in US policies?
Boyle: The United States position against terrorism is hypocritical. America continually changes the definitions of terrorism to its own liking, so that it can label its enemies terrorists, and ignores the terrorist activities of its allies. The lack of a comprehensive definition of terrorism in international laws has left America open-handed in adopting double standards in its approach to terrorism. It is no secret that Israel is the one of the biggest terrorist governments of the world. Nonetheless, because of America's support no measures against Israel have been adopted by the UN Security Council. A year ago Israel slaughtered 1200 totally innocent civilians in Gaza, while it received its usual total support from the United States.
Let us talk about what's going on in Syria today, where the United States is arming all terrorist groups for the overthrow of the Syrian government. This clearly violates the UN Charter and the International Court of Justice well known decision regarding Nicaragua, where the Reagan administration supported Nicaraguan terror groups and the Nicaraguan government sent the case to the ICJ, and the Regan government was found guilty. I have written a book called the Destruction of Libya and the International Order, and at the end of the book I have analysed the Obama administration policies regarding Syria, and that we should go back in time and read the ICJ decision on the Nicaragua case, and the same decision is exactly relevant and pertinent to Syria, and we only need to replace the word Nicaragua with Syria. This policy is undoubtedly illegitimate and condemnable. As for ISIS, all signs bring me to the conclusion that the United States government is using them as the arm of US intelligence apparatus to fulfill US objectives in the Middle East.
Reporter: Can you name us the outside factors in the formation of international terror organizations such as ISIS?
Boyle: It all boils down to Obama wanted to launch a military strike against Syria on the pretext of chemical weapons, but at the last moment, the British Parliament refused to endorse Cameron. Obama wanted the support of the West, but it never materialised. At the same time Putin sent a flotilla of around ten warships to coast of Syria, to send Obama the message that Russia would deem an attack against Syria, an attack against Russia. Furthermore it is said that China has also dispatched a ship to the region. Therefore instead of direct military intervention in Syria, Obama decided to create ISIS under the supervision of the CIA. Currently Assad's Syria has shrunk to the central regions, having lost control of around three quarters of the country. And it is highly possible that the Assad government will witness a genocide committed by ISIS against the Christian and Jewish population of the country.
Reporter: What is your opinion on the presence of Iranian terror groups such as the MKO in the United States and their role in anti-Iran policies?
Boyle: They are most certainly supported by the CIA and Israel. There is no doubt about it. It is clear that their position is very close to Mossad. Everyone saw that recently how active the Zionist lobby was in the United States to get the MKO removed from the list of terror groups. The removal of the MKO from the list of terror groups really showed how hypocritical the US government's position is against terrorism.
Reporter: As you know the 2nd International Congress on Terrorism and Victims of Terrorism will be held in Iran on 31 August, which concentrates on terrorism and victims of terrorism in Iran. What is your recommendation for better holding this international congress to create a good picture of Iran as the biggest victim of terrorism? How can we do this in the best way in this international congress?
Boyle: I am sorry that I cannot attend this congress. I was invited to attend, but due to my pressed teaching schedule I had to say no. with regards to holding the congress, one thing comes to my mind, and that is in view of the agreement reached between Iran and the United States, the opportunity has come about for Iran to complain United States and Israel as sponsors of terrorism in the world public opinion. Everyone knows that the series of assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists were committed by the United States and Israel. Well this is a clear example of state sponsored terrorism and it must be stopped. If the United States is after a constructive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, an objective which I think the Obama administration is pursuing, then there is no other way but this. Therefore, overall, I see a suitable international atmosphere for the holding of this congress.
