The Parliament's Judicial and Legal Spokesperson, Mohammad Ali Esfenani said: "In the Protection of Children and Juveniles Rights draft legislation, for the fist ime new definitions have been mentioned under the title of victim of crime."

He added: "In the definitions of children being victims of crime, subjects such as vulnerable children, child abuse, child laborers and buying and selling them have been raised."
The Judicial and Legal Commission spokesperson pointed out the main reasons and intentions of the formation of the draft legislation and said: "our children and juveniles are faced with a lot of threats and investigation of the concerns of this group is very necessary for society." He explained, "While the subject of correct teaching and prevention of physical and emotional abuse, leaving school, running away from home and also non-exploitation of children and juveniles are some of the cases that have been drafted in the legislation."
Pointing out the adoption of the generalities of the draft legislation in the Pariament Judicial and Legal Commission, Esfenani said: "The draft legislation sent to the Commission has around 57 articles the number of which will change through serious changes in the structure of the draft."
He reassured: "So far 20 articles of the draft legislation have been approved by the Private Law Committee of the Commission and the cooperation and efforts of judicial experts."
This spokesperson expressed hope that with the adoption of this draft ahuge development in children's rights will occur.
