Like in previous years the ODVV commemorated the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture by holding a technical sitting on 26 June 2019 with the subject of the documentation of torture and review postmodern treatments for the rehabilitation of victims with the attendance of psychologists, counsellors and short term treatment solution experts in the assembly hall of the ODVV.
The aim in holding this sitting was to expand support for torture victims, technical review of torture, exchange of ideas and views on how to document torture and also help methods for torture victims to return to normal living through benefiting from short term treatment experts and also experts in the field.
In this sitting which was opened by ODVV executive director, Dr. Golshanpazhooh, specialized speeches were also foreseen. Dr. Mir Saeed Jaafari member of university science group and head of the short term treatment solution club was one of the speakers of the sitting. In view of his experiences working with victims of violence and torture believed that due to the conditions of torture victims they were not very inclined to take part in long-term therapy and counseling sessions, the short-term therapy solution provides the opportunity for them to get help for rehabilitation and getting their mental health back and as a result their return to society.
In this technical sitting also postmodern solutions were reviewed as a part of the documentation of the abuses that have taken place and also psychological approaches to help torture victims to return to normal living. To this aim, the participants and the experts stressed on efforts for short-term therapy solution experts to help victims of torture. Also at the end of the sitting, there was a Q&A session for students and experts to exchange views.
At the end members of the short-term therapy, solution club did some group work on the techniques of this approach with the subject of rehabilitation of torture victims.
